Here, we have compiled a few tips to help you when ordering a translation. These are the building blocks for a constructive collaboration, by which both partners can gain a clear view of what is being ordered. It should be pointed out that translations comprise written text, as opposed to interpreting, which is verbal. The Bugli Company works exclusively with written translation.
SOURCE AND TARGET LANGUAGES
From what language and into what language should your translation be done? Bugli’s translators, including external suppliers, translate exclusively into their native language, not into other languages. It is also helpful if you specify the preferred language variation where relevant, such as UK or US English.
For whom is your translation intended and in what context will it be used? Internal company communications, information to the general public, marketing, press releases…it is important that your text uses the right form of address, is adapted for industry specialists or for inexperienced consumers.
SUBJECT AREA AND SCOPE
It is helpful if you can send us an extract from your text in advance, as this enables us to select the right translator for your subject area. We also need to know approximately how many words or pages are to be translated.
FORMAT AND PROCESSING
Do you only require a text that reproduces the content or would you like us to assist with the layout or copywriting? If so, it is helpful if the original text can be edited digitally. This facilitates the work of the translator and saves you time and money.
DELIVERY TIME AND PRICE
How quickly do you need the translation? It is possible to receive express delivery of a translation against payment of a surcharge, in the event that the translator needs to work overtime. When you receive an offer from us, you will see that the price is often stated with +/-10%, since it is often difficult to estimate exactly the amount of time required for a project.
For the translator, it is extremely useful to have access to material about your product or service, such as product brochures, links to websites, internal company glossaries and earlier translations. Sometimes, we will need to discuss technology or terms with an expert at your company/agency.
THE BENEFIT OF BUGLI – WE ARE YOUR OWN DEDICATED LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT
The benefit of cooperation with The Bugli Company is that you are guaranteed a long-term working relationship. For the language combination Swedish to English and vice versa, Bugli’s in-house translators are at your disposal. This differentiates us from most other translation companies. Translated texts are always checked by another of our translators. Our translators mainly work with specific customers and thus become very well acquainted with the terminology, style and tone that the individual customer requires.
